Sector for Connectomic And Translational Dementia research (Sector for CAT Dr.)

We study pathological circuit mechanisms of dementia based on a novel approach of tau-network mapping in human patients combined with genetic neuromodulation in non-human primates to establish a novel target for neuromodulation to improve symptoms. We also study more basic neuroscience with non-human primates for causal elucidation of multi-scale network operations for cognition and affection by combining genetic neuromodulation, functional neuroimaging, and electrophysiology.

Director:

Toshiyuki Hirabayashi, Ph.D.

Toshiyuki Hirabayashi studies 1. tau-network mapping in human patients with tau-PET and rs-fMRI 2. multi-scale causal network analysis for cognitive memory and affection by combining chemogenetics, functional imaging, and electrophysiology in non-human primates 3. local circuit operations with multiple single-unit recordings in non-human primates.
